Monday Markets - Quantum Fairy Tales (via @QuantumFT)

As you know, I don't generally promote for-the-love markets, because everyone should be paid, etc. But the great thing is that I can be a hypocrite whenever I choose, and on occasion promote markets that don't pay but may still be worth your while. Today that market is Quantum Fairy Tales:

Quantum Fairy Tales is a nonprofit, all-volunteer, all-donation, quarterly e-zine showcasing art and literature with elements of science fiction, fantasy, and the supernatural, with weekly website articles and author/artist highlights.

They do promise proper feedback to your submissions, as opposed to a form rejections, and they're not making money from your work through ads or anything like that. As long as no one is making money, I feel it's fair (cynical-writer-sad-trombone.wav).

They are looking for:

  • Speculative fiction is the broad super-category that is often called Science Fiction and Fantasy.

  • It also includes superheroes and supernatural stories.

  • To extrapolate, here’s a partial list of sub-genres that we will consider: hard science fiction, space opera, military science fiction, high fantasy, sword and sorcery, urban fantasy, horror, ghost stories, steampunk, cyberpunk, alternate history, paranormal romance, zombie invasion, and Lovecraftian. This list isn’t meant to be definitive or complete.

  • On the other hand, we’re not interested in any work that doesn’t have at least some element of speculative fiction in it.

Word counts of up to 10,000 (500 for poetry). See if it suits your style and check out the full guidelines here:
